Welcome to Killarney Elementary School. As principal, I feel especially honored to work with a highly qualified and dedicated staff, amazingly talented students, and caring and supportive parents – all sharing a common “Commitment to Excellence.”
The vision of Orange County Public Schools is to ensure every student has a promising and successful future. Here at Killarney Elementary, we work to achieve this vision every day by providing standards-based, differentiated instruction for our students. Targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities ensure that we meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all students as they strive to reach their fullest potential.
Killarney Elementary School is a 1:1 digital school. Our focus is to encourage digital literacy for every student. Our teachers achieve this by utilizing iPads and laptops as they create personalized instruction, which allows each student to collaborate, create, communicate, and think critically. Additionally, every Killarney classroom utilizes interactive SmartBoard technology, which leads to fuller levels of student engagement throughout all lessons.
Students are most successful when families and teachers work together as a team. Research shows that parental involvement results in higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, greater maturity and responsibility. It is family enthusiasm and support that inspire children to do their best, and enhance a teacher's ability to have the greatest impact on student learning. It is my honor to provide a guiding hand as we engage in the educational process together.
At this time, I strongly encourage you to become actively involved in the life of our school community. Whether you choose to join the PTA or our School Advisory Council (SAC), attend our educational curriculum family sessions, or sign up to be a school ADDitions volunteer, your support and participation will be tremendously valuable to our students. Together we can achieve wonderful things!
