Car Rider Procedures

  • Car riders are released to the cafeteria at 3:00 p.m. for dismissal on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Car riders are released at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
  • Killarney staff members will identify drivers and will assist children when entering their car. Please remain in your car and pull through the car rider line at a slow speed.
  • Killarney car-rider signs will be distributed to help identify drivers and to expedite the dismissal process. The car-rider sign MUST be placed on the dash on the driver’s side. Please be aware that if there is not a Killarney car-rider sign displayed, the driver will be required to show ID for pick-up. If the individual in the car is not on the approved pick-up list, the child will not be released.
  • Students will enter the car on the rear driver’s side, to avoid having students walk around the car into the lane of passing traffic.
  • Parents will not be permitted to pick students up from the cafeteria to walk them to their parked car. Parents must use the pick-up line if the student is a car-rider.
  • To ensure safety, we recommend no cell phone use while in the car-rider pick-up line.

*Please note that all car riders must be picked up by 3:15 p.m.*

Walker and Bike Rider Procedures

If your child is a walker and/or a bike rider and you will be meeting your child on campus to escort them home, please make sure you have the Killarney Walker Sign with you to indicate that you are approved for pick-up. If you do not have the approved sign with you, you will be required to sign the child out in the front office.

Bus Rider Procedures

School bus transportation is a privilege that is provided to eligible students.

Any misconduct on the part of the student will be reported to a school administrator. Continued misbehavior on the bus will result in suspension of the student’s bus privilege. In the case of suspension from the bus, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to provide transportation to and from school. A suspension from the bus may also result in a suspension from school.

Students who are bus riders must abide by the following rules:

  • Stand off the roadway while awaiting the bus.
  • Wait for the bus at the designated bus stop, and be present when the bus arrives.
  • Obey the bus driver; the driver is in charge of the bus and its students.
  • Remain seated until the bus arrives at the school or the designated bus stop.
  • Use reasonable voice levels. Yelling, screaming, or loud talking will NOT be permitted. There should be absolutely NO talking at the railroad crossings or when the lights are on.
  • Keep all body parts and objects inside the bus.
  • Sit in designated seats when assigned.
  • No eating or drinking on the bus.
  • No use of electronic devices on the bus.
  • Ride your assigned bus only.

Students who are not assigned bus riders are not eligible to ride the bus.

The bus driver is required to drop the students off only at their assigned stops.
